Following extensive research and suggestions from the public, the first phase of names have been shortlisted in respect of some of the streets and public places at the new development at Convoy’s Wharf. In light of the extraordinary historical significance of the site and its particularly strong links to shipbuilding, John Evelyn and the Royal Navy, there has been a focus on drawing from its 500 years of history. This was also reflected in the suggestions put forward by the local residents. Further names will be proposed for other streets, buildings and public spaces as the redevelopment progresses over the coming years.
