The future shape of the historic Olympia building, at the centre of the Convoys Wharf
development, has been given a helping hand by Lewisham’s Deputy Mayor, Brenda
Dacres, and representatives of more than 25 local community groups.

More than 50 people, including local ward councillors, attended this month’s
Community Forum at Grinling Gibbons primary school. The representatives were
divided into groups and participated in a series of productive discussions on how the
Olympia building could be used to reflect and enhance Deptford’s historic and
cultural heritage. Additionally, there was creative conversation on how the Olympia
Building could be most effectively used to benefit the local community and its
needs.

Commenting on the meeting Convoys Wharf’s Chief Project Manager, Jonathan
Sarfaty said, “We were delighted that so many local representatives took such an
interest in the project. We will now collate and reflect upon the many ideas and are
looking forward to the next Community Forum in three months time”.
