We are delighted to announce that we have been working with UCL on a partnership over the past few months, looking at ways we can collaborate with the university on Convoys Wharf. We are grateful to be working with Professor Kalliopi Fouseki, who is a professor in Sustainable Heritage Management as well as being the Chair of Examinations at the Bartlett.

From the 6th to 17th March Prof Fouseki taught The Bartlett’s postgraduate students an intensive Module on Heritage-led Urban Regeneration and Sustainable Development. As part of this Module, this year the students are working in groups on a development project with the aim to propose recommendations for an ‘inclusive heritage interpretation strategy’. The focal case study was planned to be Woolwich, however, after conversations with the Bartlett, we are pleased to share that half of the students will work on Woolwich and another half on the Convoys Wharf/Deptford. The student cohort is very interdisciplinary representing a wide array of disciplines such as architecture, planning, engineering, development, heritage conservation, history, economics, geography etc.

This will be a long-term collaboration with the aim of The Bartlett eventually having one or several more of their modules focusing on Deptford and Convoys Wharf. We see this relationship as a key part of the delivery of the heritage elements of the cultural strategy and heritage cultural commitments.

As part of this, on a cold wet Wednesday, we gave the students a site tour, and a presentation from Farrells, HPG and TTG on the site. This culminated in the students presenting to the Chief Project Manager and the students will be presenting to the community about their findings at our community event on the 20th March.
